Beach Encounter

As I crested the rocky outcrop, I spied some little grey

I boldly ran towards it through the wintry day

It spun on legs so brittle and desperately sought a way

To escape my fearsome scrutiny, as if a thing of prey

At last it gasped, exhausted and had a mind to stay

While I recorded gently its full-bodied, woody sway.

monorhyme = an identical rhyme on every line, common in Latin and Arabic

The next day they came post haste and dragged it all away
For here it's unwanted, dangerous, but plastic, that's okay!
